Jamie is a Senior Lecturer and Research Fellow at Nottingham Trent University within the Evolution and Social Interaction research group (Department of Psychology). Before then, he conducted his PhD (on the communicative function of stress behaviour in primates) and a subsequent postdoc within the comparative and evolutionary psychology department of the University of Portsmouth. Jamie was then awarded a fellowship to study third-party social knowledge within the Centre for Primatology, France, before returning to the UK for a position within NTU. In the past, his work has focused primarily on social behaviour and communication in non-human primates and in his current research, he aims to uncover the evolutionary origins of individual differences in facial expression through comparative research on macaque monkeys. In addition, Jamie has strong interests outside of this and in the past, has conducted applied research on primate welfare, and public engagement with science.
