We are delighted to announce our summer PSGB meeting, on Friday 1st July. This replaces our more usual traditional Easter meeting, and just as for that one, the focus will be on the work of our student members and early career researchers.
The meeting will be online but we are hoping that people will gather locally in-person (in ‘hublets’) so they get at least something of the ‘real’ conference experience. In addition to a plenary lecture and a workshop focused on a key area of career development, we will be inviting contributions for talks from students and early career researchers.
To allow people at different stages of their work to have the chance to contribute and gain the most benefit from the experience, we will be trying something new this year in having two separate categories of talk:
(i) Contributed research talks – these are for where speakers have completed projects to present.
(ii) Work-in-progress & project pitch talks – these are for speakers who are presenting preliminary data (or smaller datasets), or do not have analyses completed, or whose projects are still in the planning stage.
Our aim is to provide useful feedback at this earlier stage of presenters’ work, and to this end instead of the traditional questions after talks, we will be inviting people to provide constructive advice and critique (for example to help with planned grant applications, analyses yet to be done, or in refining project ideas).
A ZOOM link will be sent to all those that buy tickets the day before, we kindly ask that you do not share this link with those that have not bought a ticket. Thank you.
