Membership

Benefits of membership include a subscription to Primate Eye, reduced price meeting registration and eligibility to apply for PSGB grants.

Join the Primate Society today

PSGB is a thriving and friendly society that encourages members from all backgrounds, career stages, primatological disciplines and institutions (including universities, zoos, welfare organisations and NGOs). If not already a member, you are encouraged to join PSGB. You will get three copies per year of the Society journal, Primate Eye, reduced price PSGB Spring and Winter meeting registration, and be eligible to apply for PSGB grants. You will also be able to subscribe to Folia Primatologica, the official scientific journal of PSGB, at a reduced cost. All PSGB members are automatically members of the European Federation of Primatologists who host biennial scientific meetings.

Please be aware that applications for membership are processed on a monthly basis, it is NOT automatic on payment. Memberships are usually processed at the beginning of every month, so please bear this in mind if you are applying for membership ahead of a PSGB meeting and allow time for your application to be processed.

PSGB can claim Gift Aid on your membership if you are a British tax payer. For this we need an original completed, signed Gift Aid declaration including your home address. Completed forms can be obtained by emailing the Membership Secretary (details below) and need to be returned to the Treasurer by post (details below) or at a meeting. Once signed the form lasts as long as you are a member or until your name or address changes or you cease to pay tax. In these circumstances please contact the treasurer.

Please send all enquiries to the Membership Secretary, Dr Mary Blanchard: membership@psgb.org.

Full Membership

Full membership is open to people (including postgraduate students) with a recognised qualification in primatology. Applications must be supported by a current member, requiring an email address for online applications or signature on the printed form.

Associate Membership

Those without a recognised qualification who have a serious interest in primates can join as Associate members using a CV (supporter not required). Associate members can participate in all Society activities but cannot hold office or vote at Society business meetings. Please email your CV to the membership secretary.

Student Membership

Full-time students can join as Student Members. Student status must be confirmed by a tutor or supervisor (requiring an email address for online applications or signature on the printed form). The tutor / supervisor does not need to be a PSGB member. Following graduation, students are allowed to renew at the student rate for one additional year. We advise you to use an email address not related to your course of study to allow the PSGB to remain in contact with you when your course ends.

Institutional Membership

Organisations with an interest in primatology can join as Institutional members.

Full and Associate members can choose to join as Life members. Please contact the Membership Secretary for further information.
